2. What are the BASIC requirements for the use of AirPlay in my home?
With Apple's AirPlay-technology you can stream your audio wirelessly to Libratone AirPlay enabled speakers. Before you set up your AirPlay speaker you need to ensure you have the following:
- A Libratone AirPlay speaker.
- A wireless router enabling a stable and accessible WiFi network in your home.
- Your Wireless Network Name and Wireless Network Password (if applicable).
- A compatible iOS device or a Mac/PC.
Those are the very basic requirements, however please see right below for the extended requirements and recommendations you need to check BEFORE setting up your speaker.
Note: Our Setup Guides and Users Manual are included with your product and also available here in PDF format.

3. What are the EXTENDED requirements and recommendations for the use of AirPlay in my home?
In addition to the above basic AirPlay requirements please observe the following extended requirements and our recommendations for setting up your AirPlay speaker:
- Your network router, your Libratone speaker and your audio device (computer or iOS device) must be in close range of each other with strong network signal strength between them.
- Your network router must support the Wireless B/G standard and this option must be enabled in the router's configuration (Wireless N is not supported).
- Your Wireless Network Name (often referred to as SSID) must be visible ("broadcasted") during the setup process, ie. it must not be hidden. Once you've finished setup you may hide the Wireless Network Name again.
- The use of special characters or any national characters in your Speaker Name, Wireless Network Name or Wireless Network Password is not supported. If you use these characters please replace them with alphanumeric characters only.
- Avoid using WEP encryption and TKIP security on your router. We recommend WPA2 encryption + AES security.
- Your iOS device needs to run iOS 4.2 or later and your Mac/PC needs to run iTunes 10.2 or later. However, Libratone generally recommends the use of the latest versions of iOS and iTunes, as Apple is constantly improving AirPlay stability and functionality in newer versions.
- If you use an iOS device to set up your speaker it is strongly recommended that you close (not just minimize) Safari and all other applications in the taskbar on your iOS device before starting the setup process.
- It is recommended that your router runs the latest firmware available for it.

4. If your Libratone AirPlay speaker keeps pulsing red instead of pulsing slow white
The speaker cannot connect to a wireless network. This problem may have several causes:
- Wrong wireless network information and/or a failure in the connection between the speaker and the home network. Ensure that Wireless Network Name and Wireless Network Password are correct. If you use speciel characters such as #, &, % or any national characters in either your Speaker Name, Wireless Network Name or Wireless Network Password, please replace these characters with alphanumeric characters only.
- The speaker can't locate the wireless network. If you have several WiFi networks in your home, try to turn off the ones not used by the speaker.
- Try to relocate either your speaker or your router to strengthen the network signal. Your speaker and your router needs to be in range of each other and with strong signal strength between them.
- Try to change the "channel" upon which your router operates (consult your router's manual to learn more about this feature). Having many networking devices operating on the same channel can seriously degrade network performance and thus cause audio dropouts on your AirPlay connection.

5. Auto-Capitalization issue on iOS devices when typing Wireless Network Password
Please note that the Wireless Network Password input field on the Libratone
AirPlay Setup screen automatically suggests an uppercase first character in
Safari. Auto-Capitalization is enabled in the password input field.
If the first character in your Wireless Network Password is a lowercase letter,
please manually disable uppercase on the first character by pressing Shift.
Bottom line: "Password" and "password" are two different passwords. Upper- and
lowercase versions of the same character are considered different.

6. If you're using WEP as the security mechanism on your router
The WEP security standard is an aging security standard and you may experience AirPlay connection problems if you use WEP security on your router. Avoid using WEP encryption and TKIP security on your router. We recommend WPA2 encryption + AES which also enhances security significantly. For instructions on changing the security type on your router, please refer to your router's documentation.

7. If you're experiencing problems setting up to WPA/WPA2 security on your router
Check if any special characters such as #, &,
% or any national characters are part of your WPA/WPA2 Network
Password.
If this is the case, then change your password to one that doesn't include these
characters. The same applies to your Speaker Name and Wireless Network Name
(SSID) which must also contain alphanumeric characters only. For instructions on
how to change the configuration of your router, please refer to your router's
documentation.

8. If you have more than one DHCP server on your wireless network
There should be only one DHCP server on your network. This DHCP server may be built in to your DSL or cable modem, a standalone router, or integrated with your WiFi router. In any case, only one device should act as a DHCP server on your network. If more than one device has it enabled, you will likely see address conflicts and will have issues accessing the Internet or other resources on your network, such as your Libratone AirPlay speaker.

9. DLNA - Android / Windows Phone 8 / Windows support
With DLNA enabled firmware on your speakers - you can stream music from your DLNA ready music app on your DLNA ready Android / WP8 / Windows computer to your Libratone speaker without using AirPlay.
Basically your Android / WP8 / Windows computer and your Libratone speaker only need to be connected to the same network. Use your home WiFi or use Libratone PlayDirect™.
- Android devices. Simply use the built in DLNA ready music app on your device. From the app - browse the network for DLNA compatible devices and find your Libratone speaker. Once selected - just play your speaker. (If your built in music app isn't DLNA ready - go search for another DLNA ready music app - e.g. 2player, BubbleUPnP, UPnPlay or Samsung AllShare Play) Best Android performance with Android version JellyBean 4.1/4.2.
- Windows Phone 8 (WP8) Several phones are DLNA ready. No DLNA ready apps released yet. Beta version of Play To available for Nokia on the NokiaBetaLabs website.
- Computers - DLNA is allowing non-AirPlay compatible applications like Windows Media Player 11 and 12 to stream music to your Libratone speaker through "Play To". Try "Play To" on you music library from Windows Explorer.
For information on how to create or troubleshoot a specific DLNA setup on your Android/Windows device - please consult the user manual for your specific device.

11. If your WiFi Network Name (SSID) is not available in the list of networks in the AirPlay setup page
This problem may have 3 causes:
- Your speaker is not within reach of your router's wireless signal and thus cannot connect to it. Ensure that your router and your speaker are within range of each other.
- Your router does not support the Wireless B/G standard or it has been disabled in the network configuration of your router. Ensure that your router supports the Wireless B/G standard and that this option is enabled in the configuration of your router. The Wireless N standard is not supported.
- Your router is configured to hide its Network Name (SSID) and thus your network will not be shown in the list of available networks in the setup page. The workaround is to change the network settings of your router to temporarily broadcast the SSID of your network while setting up your speaker. Once your router has SSID broadcast enabled the normal AirPlay setup process can be completed. Upon completion of your speaker setup (signalled by your speaker pulsing slow white) you can change the router configuration back to a hidden SSID.

14. Do I need to set up my speaker for every iOS device or computer I will AirPlay from?
No, setup of your new Libratone AirPlay speaker is a one-time process. Once you finish setup your speaker is available from any iOS device or computer operating on the same WiFi as your speaker. Just look for the AirPlay icon in iTunes, your iPod player or any AirPlay compatible application.

15. If you can't see your speaker in the AirPlay menu in iTunes or on your iOS device
If your Libratone AirPlay speaker does not appear in the AirPlay menu, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Verify that all your AirPlay-enabled devices are logged on to the same home Wi-Fi network (check the home network names on all your devices to confirm).
- Verify that your iOS device or computer has WiFi turned on and is associated with the same home WiFi network as your Libratone speaker.
- Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices. Temporarily disable firewalls (both network and local) and security software. Security software and firewalls may block ports that AirPlay uses to stream content. You can often resolve issues with security software by updating, correctly configuring, or uninstalling security software.
- Ensure that no other devices are trying to stream AirPlay to your Libratone speaker at the same time. Only one device may access the speaker at a time.
- Turn off Bluetooth on your iOS device by tapping Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off.
- If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).

16. If you lose audio connection (experience dropouts) between your speaker and your audio device
Sometimes you may lose the audio connection between your speaker and your audio device. This may be caused by several reasons including:
- Your router, speaker and audio device are no longer within solid range of each other.
- Heavy data traffic (such as large downloads, streaming movies etc.) is causing data congestion on your network router.
- The streaming service you're listening to (eg. Pandora, Spotify, Last.fm etc.) is experiencing heavy usage, thus dropping audio connection periodically.
Your audio application may also occasionally lose AirPlay connection to your speaker. To fix this you normally only need to either restart your iTunes/iPod player (close and restart the player, do not just minimize it) OR select and de-select your AirPlay speaker in the AirPlay menu on your device.
Please also note that WiFi connections may suffer from minor audio dropouts from time to time due to other devices in your home influencing your WiFi network traffic.
